What UnCoat® Does

UnCoat® is a highly specialized chemical stripper designed to act as the perfect reset button for your vehicle's paint, ensuring your new TopCoat® sealants and ceramics achieve a maximum molecular bond.

How to Use UnCoat®

To get the perfect blank canvas for your new TopCoat® sealants or Crystaleen® ceramic, follow these steps to safely strip away old, degraded layers, starting with a cool surface in ambient temperatures:

Step 1: The Mandatory Test Spot Always test UnCoat® on a small, inconspicuous area of the vehicle first before applying. Spray on to a white microfiber towel to reveal removed contamination. If the surface does not feel tacky, continue to the next step.
Step 2: Apply and Work In Apply the product to the microfiber towel and thoroughly work it into the surface by hand. No mechanical buffers are required. Work in sections approximately 1' x 1' at a time, frequently flipping the towel to a clean side as contamination is removed. Continue wiping until the product has fully flashed off and the surface feels dry.
Step 3: Inspect the Finish Wipe the area clean. You'll know the old coating is gone when water sheets across the surface instead of beads, the paint feels grippy, surfaces appear lighter or less glossy, and/or previously hidden hairline imperfections become visible again.
Step 4: Repeat if Necessary Not all waxes and sealers are created equal. Depending on the strength and layering of the old coating, it may require several applications to completely strip the surface down to the bare clear coat.

Protecting Your Paint

UnCoat® is a highly effective chemical coating remover commonly used by body shops and professional detailers to prep surfaces before paint correction or ceramic installation. Please read the following before purchasing or applying:

Always Perform a Test Spot: Before full application, test UnCoat® on a small, inconspicuous area first. If color transfers to your applicator pad or the surface becomes tacky, soft, or visibly discolored, discontinue use immediately.
Factory Paint & Clear Coat Use Only: UnCoat® is designed for professional clear coat and factory-painted finishes. It is not recommended for spray paint, rattle-can paint, single-stage paint, or older enamel finishes, as damage, discoloration, or paint transfer may occur.
Hazmat Shipping Restrictions: Due to the chemical nature of this product, UnCoat® is classified as a Hazmat item and can only be shipped via FedEx Ground.

Will this damage my paint or clear coat?

UnCoat is safe for modern vehicles with a factory clear coat. However, if you are working on an older vehicle with single-stage or enamel paint (meaning there is no clear coat), the chemical stripper can cause color transfer. Always perform a small test spot first. If you see your paint color transferring onto your applicator pad, stop using it immediately.

How much product will I need?

For the average car, expect to use 2–4 oz for a single application.

Can UnCoat® be used on spray paint or rattle-can paint?

No. UnCoat® is designed for professional clear coat and factory-painted finishes only. It is not recommended for spray paint or rattle-can painted surfaces, as damage or removal may occur. Always test on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.

Do I need a machine polisher or buffer to use this?

No. UnCoat is specifically formulated to be highly effective when applied and worked in completely by hand. This eliminates the need for expensive tools, messy buffing pads, or the risk of burning through your clear coat with a machine polisher.

How do I know when the old wax or coating is actually removed?

There are five distinct signs that UnCoat has successfully stripped the surface down to the bare paint:
1. The finish looks slightly duller or “dry”
2. The surface feels grippy rather than slick
3. Water sheets across the surface instead of beading up
4. Previously hidden hairline scratches may become visible again
5. On plastic trim, coated surfaces may appear less dark and glossy

Why is my shipping restricted to FedEx Ground?

Because UnCoat is a professional-grade chemical stripper, it is legally classified as a Hazmat item for shipping purposes. Federal safety regulations require it to be transported strictly via ground shipping, which is why expedited air options are not available at checkout.
