There appears to be a misconception circulating on the Internet when many detailers or consumers put TopCoat® F11® to the test where they use dish soap to remove it. Well, we’ve tested the theory of dawn dish soap removing certain sealant products, including our very own TopCoat® F11® and the findings are as we expected, which is good news!
The fact of the matter is that dawn dish soap does NOT remove TopCoat® F11®. Those who have tested TopCoat® F11® time and time again up against other sealants may have been under the misconception that dish soap will remove TopCoat® F11®. What happens in many of those tests, as we demonstrate in the video below, is that dish soap (dawn dish soap) leaves behind a residue/film on top of TopCoat® F11®. The dish soap residue is not hydrophobic and doesn’t bead or shed water, it allows water to sheet off proving that it doesn’t have any hydrophobic properties, which is a fact.
If you take the time to wipe the surface of an area that has been cleaned with dish soap you will wipe away the residue layer that dish soap leaves behind and thus allowing a sealant like TopCoat® F11® to work, which again, is clearly demonstrated in the video above. Most soaps leave behind residue or a film.
Next time you see a video of TopCoat® F11® being put to the test, try to observe what is being used to clean the surface. Is it dish soap or some other soap product that may leave behind a stubborn residue or layer that is not hydrophobic, thus masking the TopCoat® F11® layer?
Note: We do not ever recommend using dish soap of any kind on your vehicle as it can be harsh and leave behind an unwanted or unsightly residue/film.
We want you to be 100% satisfied with everything you buy from TopCoat. And if you’re not entirely happy with your purchase we will refund your money in full, or exchange the goods. All we ask is that you contact our customer services and then return the products back to us.
